Quick Maintenance Tips

FIX IT YOURSELF.
SAVE THE SHOP VISIT.

Common mower problems have simple fixes. Try these before you book a ticket — and come back anytime you need a hand.

Won't Start? Check the Fuel

Old gas is the #1 culprit. If it sat over winter, drain the tank and refill fresh. Add stabilizer so it doesn't happen again.

Bogging Down? Check the Air Filter

A dirty filter starves the engine. Tap it clean or swap it — a $10 part that fixes a lot of power loss.

Uneven Cut? Sharpen the Blades

Dull blades tear grass. Sharpen at least once per season, and replace if you've hit a rock or root.

Rough Idle? Clean the Carburetor

A clogged carb causes sputtering and stalling. Spray carb cleaner into the intake and check the float bowl for debris.

Leaking Oil? Check the Seal

Oil under the deck usually means a worn crankshaft seal. Don't run it dry — top off the oil and get the seal replaced.

Pull Cord Stuck? Release the Brake

If the pull start won't budge, the flywheel brake may be engaged. Make sure the safety bar is released before pulling.
